The Pennsylvania Bar Foundation will be accepting applications for the Patti Rose Scheimer Bednarik Memorial Scholarship until July 1, 2017.
The Patti Rose Scheimer Bednarik Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Joseph T. Bednarik in memory of his late wife, the founder and first chair of PBA Animal Law Committee who died in 2013.
Eligible applicants for the $5,400 annual scholarship must be either: 1) enrolled in an accredited law school in the state of Pennsylvania; 2) a Pennsylvania resident enrolled in a non-Pennsylvania law school within the US; or 3) a licensed Pennsylvania lawyer admitted to practice less than three (3) years. Applicants must perform volunteer service to an animal welfare organization before, during and/or after law school; or engage in scholarship in the field of animal law and animal welfare, including reading, research, writing and clinical work; or perform pro bono legal work in the field of animal welfare.
The recipient will be selected by the PBF Scholarship Committee with the participation and advice of the donor. In the event that more than one applicant is deemed deserving, the scholarship may be divided between two applicants.
